Description BMW 5 Series Touring

5 Series Touring (G31) - five-door station wagon based on "five" BMW seventh generation submitted in February 2017, and in March of the same year, the new generation model debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. When changing generations, the 5 Series Touring became larger and received advanced driver assistance systems.

In terms of design, the new 5 Series Touring has made an evolutionary step, expressed in more serious detailing of individual exterior elements and new generation LED headlights. At the same time, the G31 is 36 mm longer (4943 mm), 8 mm wider (1868 mm) and 10 mm higher (1498) than its predecessor F11, and the wheelbase of the model has grown by 7 mm to 2975 mm. The five-door “five” also received a more spacious trunk: with the backs of the second row raised, its volume is 570 liters (+10 liters), and with the folded ones - 1700 liters (+30 liters). The backrests fold in the ratio of 40:20:40, their position can be controlled using a separate button in the trunk.

The 5 Series Touring is available in Luxury Line, M Sport and Sportline trims, which differ in the design of the bumpers, rims and exhaust tips.

The maximum load capacity of the model has increased to 720 - 730 kg, depending on the modification, which is 120 kg more than the permissible weight of the transported cargo in the previous generation five-door. Moreover, the Turing air suspension on the rear axle with automatic ride height adjustment has become standard equipment. Optionally available are Dynamic Damper Control, Adaptive Drive Suspension Management with Active Body Stabilization, Integral Active Steering (now available in conjunction with xDrive) and M Sport suspension with 10mm lower ride height.

The BMW 5 Series Touring (G31) is available with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, petrol and diesel versions with a start/stop system, and an 8-speed automatic transmission. But for the 520d version, automatic transmission is an option, and by default it is equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics":

• BMW 520i Touring: petrol four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (184 hp, 290 Nm) and 8-speed "automatic". Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 8.2 seconds, fuel consumption in the combined cycle 5.8 l / 100 km;
  
• BMW 530i Touring: gasoline four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (252 hp, 350 Nm) and an 8-speed automatic. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 6.3 l / 100 km;
• BMW 530i xDrive Touring: gasoline four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (252 hp, 350 Nm), 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 6.3 seconds, fuel consumption in the combined cycle 6.5 l / 100 km;
• BMW 540i xDrive Touring: gasoline six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine (340 hp, 450 Nm), 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 5.1 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 7.7 l / 100 km;
• BMW 520d Touring: diesel four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (190 hp, 400 Nm). The motor is combined with a 6-speed "mechanics" and with an 8-band "automatic". In the first combination, 0-100 km/h takes 8.0 seconds, and combined cycle consumption is claimed at 4.9 l/100 km. In the second, acceleration to “hundreds” lasts 7.8 seconds, and consumption is from 4.9 to 4.5 l / 100 km;
• BMW 520d xDrive Touring: diesel four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (190 hp, 400 Nm), 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 7.9 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 4.9 l / 100 km;
• BMW 525d Touring: diesel four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine (231 hp, 500 Nm) and an 8-speed "automatic". Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 6.8 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 4.7 l / 100 km;
• BMW 530d Touring: diesel six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine (265 hp, 620 Nm) and 8-speed "automatic". Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 5.8 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 5.1 l / 100 km;
• BMW 530d xDrive Touring: diesel six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine (265 hp, 620 Nm), 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 5.6 seconds, consumption in the combined cycle 5.7-5.3 l / 100 km;
• BMW 540d xDrive Touring: diesel six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine (320 hp, 680 Nm), 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 4.9 seconds, combined cycle consumption of 5.5 l / 100 km;

The list of options is the same as sedan. In addition to the adaptive or sports suspension, the station wagon can be ordered with a multimedia system with a 10.25-inch touch screen, a panoramic roof, adaptive LED headlights, wireless charging of mobile phones, as well as an automatic remote-controlled valet and a set of security systems (emergency auto braking, lane keeping , blind spot sensors).

The station wagon of the 5th series has successfully implemented work with the luggage compartment - an additional removable shelf and a dividing grid are now stored in separate compartments that can be hidden in recesses under the trunk floor. For the car, the function of contactless opening and closing of the fifth door is optionally available, while the rear window can be opened separately.

The BMW 5 Series Touring station wagon is produced at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing, Germany.
