The car is rear wheel drive. The weight distribution between the axles is 50:50. The chassis is borrowed from the BMW "troika". The new generation of the BMW Z4 is equipped as standard with an electric aluminum roof. The top can be folded at speeds up to 40 km / h. It takes about 20 seconds. In order for the wind to disturb passengers less, the developers prudently made door windows with a slightly increased area. A windscreen is also available as an option, located between the seat headrests.
The range of engines consists of gasoline engines. A 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit, depending on the modification, can develop 156, 184 or 245 hp. The power of the three-liter in-line "six", depending on the version chosen, is 306 or 340 hp. The two-liter engine is standardly equipped with a six-speed “mechanics”, and the three-liter engine can be aggregated with a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic transmission for an extra charge.
With the least powerful engine, the BMW Z4 picks up one hundred kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds, and with the highest-performance one, paired with a “robot”, in 4.8 seconds.
Serial production of the BMW Z4 has been launched at the company's plant in Germany.
