In addition, the third generation of the model improved its aerodynamic performance, and also became more spacious. The trunk now holds 650 liters of luggage, and with the rear seats folded down - 1,870 liters, which is 30 and 120 liters, respectively, more than its predecessor.
For the first time, the BMW X5 will be offered not only in all-wheel drive, but also in rear-wheel drive. Nevertheless, the modification, which is driven exclusively by the rear wheels, has been on sale since December 2013. First, two diesel and one gasoline versions were introduced to the market:
BMW X5 xDrive30d with an in-line three-liter "six", the maximum power and torque of which increased to 258 hp. and 560 Nm (+13 hp, +20 Nm). Acceleration time to "hundreds" was reduced to 6.9 seconds (-0.7 s), and the average fuel consumption decreased to 6.2 liters (-1.2 l);
BMW X5 M50d is a sporty version developed by the M Performance division. As a power plant uses a six-cylinder diesel engine with triple supercharging. The appetite of the three-liter unit has decreased, and the dynamics have improved slightly. In the combined cycle, the engine consumes 6.7 liters of "heavy" fuel (-0.8 liters). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.3 seconds (-0.1 s). At the same time, the engine output remained the same - 381 hp. and 740 Nm;
BMW X5 xDrive50i — petrol "eight" has become 10% more powerful and 16% more economical. The 4.4-liter engine now produces 450 hp. (+43 HP) and 650 Nm (+50 Nm). Up to a hundred kilometers per hour, the model shoots half a second faster than its predecessor - in 5 seconds. At the same time, the average consumption was reduced to 10.4 liters (-2 liters).
In December 2013, the list of modifications was added to the gasoline BMW X5 xDrive35i (306 hp), diesel BMW X5 xDrive40d (313 hp), as well as two versions with 218 hp. - all-wheel drive BMW X5 xDrive25d and rear wheel drive BMW X5 sDrive25d. Paired with all motors, an eight-speed automatic is used.
The mechanism of the permanent all-wheel drive system has become lighter and faster. For the first time, visual information about the operation of the xDrive system will be displayed on the monitor. Among the innovations is the projection display, which has become color and, in addition to the main instrumental indicators, has learned to display a list of contacts and other useful information.
In the usual version, the crossover is equipped with the Driving Experience Control system, which has several standard driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Eco. Each of them changes the response of the gas pedal, the algorithms of the gearbox, the power steering settings. In addition, for an extra charge for all-wheel drive modifications, several adaptive suspension options are available, which will allow the driver to further customize the shock absorbers:
Comfort - provides maximum comfort, pneumatic elements are installed at the back;
Sports M-suspension - lowered and stiffer suspension (standard for BMW X5 M50d);
dynamic — Chassis, providing a more dynamic cornering;
professional - the so-called "golden mean". Promotes dynamic driving without sacrificing comfort. Essentially combines Comfort and Dynamic options.
The standard equipment of the BMW X5 includes an electric trunk lid, iDrive multimedia with Bluetooth and USB, an integrated motion stabilization system, cruise control with automatic braking, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The list of numerous options includes LED fog lights, full LED adaptive headlights, a panoramic roof, premium acoustics from Harman Kardon and Bang & Olufsen, 20-inch wheels, and a long list of electronic assistants, including a parking assistant and a Stop & Go system, which allows the car to move at speeds up to 40 km / h without the participation of the driver. At the same time, the "autopilot" from now on not only monitors the distance to the car in front, but also the markings, taxiing in such a way that the car always remains in the center of its lane.
