Description BMW X2

BMW X2 - compact front- or all-wheel drive crossover. Presentation of the conceptual version of the model took place in September 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. Serial version of the Germans submitted in October 2017.  

"X two" is built on the original UKL front-wheel drive platform with a transverse engine, which is also used in BMW X1 and new brand models MINI. Interestingly, the BMW X2 is shorter and 70mm lower than the X1, but has the same wheelbase of 2670mm. It also has shorter overhangs, an elevated sill line and a more coupe-like silhouette. In addition, the X2 is the first modern BMW to feature an inverted grille, with the lower part wider than the upper.

The basic versions of the model have black plastic lining on the bottom and standard bumpers. On the X2 M Sport version, the side trims are slightly darker than the main body color, which makes the car visually lower. The BMW X2 M Sport X, on the other hand, features side skirts with inserts in Frost Grey. Light shades of gray give the impression of increased ground clearance compared to the BMW X2 M Sport.

For the small crossover, there are three suspension options: standard, sporty with a 10 mm lower ground clearance for cars with the M-package and optional with Dynamic Damper Control active shock absorbers. The base wheels are 17 inches in diameter, but for the top versions, the Bavarians even prepared 19- and 20-inch ones. Depending on the type of engine, the X2 can be equipped with either a single or dual pipe exhaust system.  

The interior of the X2 is virtually identical to the X1. The instrument panel and center console have decorative stitching along the contour by default. As standard, the crossover is equipped with a 6.5-inch display. When the navigation system Plus is installed, the diagonal of the display is 8.8 inches. A full-color head-up display is also available as an option - information about the trip, indications of the navigator and assistance systems are displayed in the driver's field of vision. 

The first two modifications went on sale:   

• X2 sDrive20i with a 2.0-liter petrol “turbo-four” (192 hp, 280 Nm). Average fuel consumption - 5.9 - 5.5 l / 100 km;
• X2xDrive20d with a four-cylinder turbodiesel with a volume of 2.0 liters (190 hp, 400 Nm). Average fuel consumption is 4.8 - 4.6 l / 100 km.

The petrol version is equipped with a 7-speed "robot" with two clutches, and the diesel version is equipped with an 8-speed classic "automatic". In addition, the heavy-fuel X2 is equipped with the xDrive all-wheel drive system by default. All model variants with automatic transmissions are optionally equipped with paddle shifters.

The BMW X2 is produced in Germany.
