The BMW X1 is built on the platform of the 3 Series station wagon, making the crossover have the handling of conventional passenger cars. Despite the high ground clearance, which is about 200 mm, the BMW X1 is distinguished by the virtual absence of rolls and sharp steering settings.
The car is offered with two drive options - only with rear-wheel drive (sDrive) or with an all-wheel drive system (xDrive), which can transfer 100% of torque to the front or rear axle if necessary.
The range of gasoline engines consists of atmospheric and turbocharged four-cylinder two-liter units with a capacity of 150, 184 and 245 hp. Three 2-liter diesel turbo engines (143, 184 and 204 hp) are also available for the buyer's choice. With the least powerful engines, a six-speed “mechanics” or an optional automatic is used as a transmission. And for more powerful power plants, an 8-speed automatic transmission is provided.
One of the main competitors of the BMW X1 in the Ukrainian market is Audi Q3.
Serial production of the BMW X1 has been launched in Germany, but the company's immediate plans include transferring the assembly of the model to an American plant, which already produces BMW X5 And X6.
