BMW M3 - sports version of the sedan bmw 3 series. The official presentation of the fifth generation of "Em the third" (index F80) took place in 2014 at the Detroit Auto Show. At the same time, the “charged” coupe also debuted M4 (F82).
With the change of generations, the “hot” versions of the BMW 3 and 4 series have increased the track and heavily redesigned the rear suspension. The distance between the wheels has increased by 3.5 centimeters at the front, by 1.8 centimeters at the rear. The roof, trunk lid, underhood brace and driveshaft of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 are made of carbon fibre. New subframes are also designed to reduce the weight of the cars, saving five kilograms and “mountains” of aluminum in the suspension design. The total weight savings compared to its predecessors is 80 kilograms with an ideal (50:50) weight distribution along the axes.

Under the hood of both cars is a six-cylinder petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. This unit develops up to 431 hp. in the range from 5500 to 7300 rpm, and the maximum torque of 550 Nm is available from 1850 to 5500 rpm. In this case, the motor can be twisted up to 7500 rpm. The engine is aggregated with new Getrag six-speed manual gearboxes or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The new “mechanics” is 12 kg lighter than the previous one and will delight riders with the “re-gas” system when downshifting.
Robotic gearboxes provide maximum dynamic performance. BMW M3 and BMW M4 gaining the first "hundred" in 4.1 seconds. This is 0.6 seconds faster than previous generation machines. The base car's electronics won't let it go faster than 250 km/h, but the optional M-package will loosen its grip and offer a top speed of 280 km/h.
Both vehicles now feature an electronically controlled active rear differential. Chassis and power steering settings can be adjusted within three preset modes - Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The latter, of course, is the most interesting, and the “M” button on the steering wheel reveals its breath. It is she who, like a conductor, adjusts the sports exhaust system to the desired tone.
The new EMs are smarter and more willing to play with the driver through a variety of apps. So, the on-board multimedia system has learned to measure the lap time on the racing ring, and the completely new “Smokey Burnout” function will allow you to burn rubber at city speeds and skid the wheels almost on the spot. There is also a function of a quick start from a place (Launch Control) and a skid control system. Understeer electronically opens the clutch in the transmission and levels the car.
On the front axle of the new BMW M3 and M4 four-piston brakes are installed, the discs of which can be replaced with carbon-ceramic plates for an extra charge. The base car rests on 18-inch wheels, with sporty tires measuring 255/40 up front and 275/40 in the rear. For a surcharge, 19-inch wheels can be installed on the BMW M3 and M4.
Serial production of the BMW M3 sedan has been launched at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg (Germany).
